Living with Freaks
The following is a guest post by Patrick (father of Matthew Oliver):
Matthew means “Gift of God.”
A "Freak”? I hope so. Gift of God? Certainly. I wanted to express that Matthew Oliver belongs to the Lord and the Family of God. God moved in us to want a child and honored us when we called on Him about when and how to go about having a child. And the Lord has answered our prayers every step of the way. He has been incredibly faithful and has showered His love upon us in so many ways. We could not have planned a more incredible story for our son; Matthew truly is a gift of God.
The Name Sake: “Follow me” were the first words of Jesus to Matthew. And one verse later Jesus is in Matthew’s home eating with Him. I cannot think of anything I want more for our son than this. Lord, may it be so.
The Family of God: Also I thank God for the other “freaks” he has given us. Our son truly has a family, a village. He has many Fathers and Mothers, Brothers and Sisters.
Shamelessly cute pictures of our son:
